KFC Protests

The first Saturday of each month, 12-1pm outside the KFC on Girard and Broadway.

Why KFC?

In Spring 2007 we:

  • protested KFC weekly, every Wednesday from 5-6 at the KFC on Broadway. Learn more about the campagin at KentuckyFriedCruelty.com
  • Vegan Fest: May 18 at 7pm in the VU 565. $2
  • Moral Vegetarianism by Professor Hud Hudson: May 21, 7pm, Bond Hall 417. Free
  • Hosted Howard Lyman, nationally known speaker (featured on Oprah and NPR) and author: May 31, 7pm,Artnzen Hall 100. Free.
  • Met every Thrusday at 5pm in the library skybridge.
  • Collected signatures to stop animal research on campus.
  • Hosting a "Sexy Dogs" fundraiser on Vendor's Row May 1, 2, and 9.
  • Tabling on campus to promote our club and help spread awareness about animal cruelty.

In Winter 2007 we:

  • protested KFC weekly. This is still going on! It's every Wednesday from 5-6pm at the KFC on Broadway. Come if you can! See Fall 2006 for more info.
  • organized and hosted a video showing of Covance, the largest animal testing facility in the world.
  • were featured over six times in the Western Front about animal research.
  • organized and hosted an Animal Testing and Research Forum to present both sides of animal research. A primatologist from PETA and a biologist from WWU presented. Over 60 people attended. This was an amazing success and made the Bellingham Herald and the front page of the Western Front. Read the WF front page article at here.
  •   hosted an info table at the Community Food Co-op.

                                                                         In Fall 2006, we:

    • protested Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) weekly for erroneous animal cruelty such as boiling live chickens, snapping bones on live chickens, kicking, hitting and tormenting live chickens, and processing live chickens. The point of this protest it to bring awareness about the inhumane things that KFC is allowing their suppliers to do. The KFC Campaign is an international boycott and lobbying campaign started by PETA.
    • hosted a Turkeyless Thanksgiving, a vegan Thanksgiving that we do every year. This was a huge success! Many people came (over 45) to eat amazing vegan food. Learn about why our Thanksgivings are vegan here.
tabled at WWU over half a dozen times to promote out club.
    • hosted a Meat Your Meet showing on campus to raise awareness about what eating animals is about.
